On our Cleveland trip, we decided to visit a small Paris inspired cafe called Le Petit Triangle. This French style cafe offers an authentic European atmosphere complete with European entrees and decor. We were looking forward to dining at a small, local restaurant with specialty food.
We really wanted the Quiche du Jour, served with a side salad, however, they were out for the day by the time we arrived for lunch.
I decided to go with one of the crepes since they were out of quiche. This was fine with me since I had never tried a crepe before. I ordered the French Dark chocolate, which was absolutely delicious! The whipped cream & strawberries were a nice touch.
I also tried the Triangle Salad, an assortment of mesclun (a mix of French greens), dried cranberries, walnuts, and pumpkin seeds tossed in a raspberry vinaigrette. The salad was great; I would definitely order it again. It would pair well with a quiche or sandwich.
Mike ordered the Simplette Savory Crepe, which was a delicious crepe stuffed with scrambled eggs, cheese, and tomato. You also have the choice of adding a variety of other ingredients such as ham, chicken, or avocado.
I tried it myself and I have to say I was impressed. The buckwheat substitution was a nice healthy bonus. Despite the name, buckwheat is a great option for those following a gluten-free diet. He also loved the taste and texture of the couscous lentil salad, which was included as a side dish.
I really enjoyed this cafe, especially the European style design. I felt as if I was sitting in a cafe in Paris. Even the menu is in French! I felt like I needed to take my French book back out to translate some of the items. Whether you choose a traditional French breakfast with coffee, a light sandwich for lunch, or a sweet crepe with a glass of wine for an after dinner snack; you will fall in love with the Parisian inspired food and look of Le Petit Triangle Cafe.
