Mohegan Sun Casino and Resort - Connecticut

Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut is one of the largest casinos in the world, and thus has plenty to offer within its’ 364,000 square foot space. You will find plenty of table games, slots, and a racebook. Mohegan sun also offers a Wolf Den offering free concerts each weekend. The Mohegan Sun arena is home to the Connecticut Sun and various ongoing events throughout the year. There are causal and fine dining options, nightclubs, and a full service spa. You are bound to have a full schedule during your stay at the Mohegan Sun.

The Native American theme throughout the casino is very appealing. You will find beautiful artwork and woodwork throughout the property. There are 3 Native American named and designed casinos: Casino of the Earth, Casino of the Sky, and Casino of the Wind.

The Shops at Mohegan Sun is a nice area to walk around. There is a pretty glass sculpture in the middle of the area. You will find plenty of high end stores here such as Tiffany, Cache, Godiva, Swarvoski, and much more. My favorite store is The Old Farmer’s Almanac General Store, which features a variety of knick knacks and holiday decorations. I always walk away with a new unique item. There is a great mix of casual and fine dining restaurants inside the Mohegan Sun. I really liked both Todd English’s Tuscany and the buffet. Check out the full Mohegan Sun Dining Directory. Seasons Buffet at the Mohegan Sun offers an excellent breakfast assortment. I have tried both the lunch and breakfast buffets, however, I prefer the options offered for breakfast. This breakfast is a great value as well at only $12.50 a person.

There are plenty of options for everyone at the breakfast buffet including: a made to order omelet bar, a make your own omelet station, make your own breakfast burritos, various pancakes and french toast, various forms of potatoes, fruits, crepes, meats, 3 different types of Quiche, a large selection of assorted pastries, and much more. Here is a sample of a plate that I made:

I got a delicious omelet with onions and tomato. The Quiche Lorraine was amazing; Mike and I both back up for seconds. The blueberry pancakes were not that good; I ended up tossing them. All the fruit was very fresh, especially the watermelon. The crepes and hash browns are both worth seconds as well.

Almost everything I tried was delicious. The advantage of a buffet is if you don’t like something, you can always find something else. This buffet is pretty large, so you should have no problem finding at least a few favorites. The one letdown was the dessert table, which didn’t offer as great a selection as other buffets I have visited. The NY Cheesecake and Molten Chocolate cake were probably the standouts. Desserts are the perfect size; small enough to try out a sampling.
